2019 March for Parks
The community walk will be held September 28 th , 2019. Registration will be held between
8:30-9:00AM at the base of Ocotillo Trail (back parking lot of NMSU-C).The walk will proceed
up the trail to the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park starting at 9:00am . National Public
Lands Day events at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park will begin at approximately
11:00AM and will include refreshments, activities, door prizes and grand prizes for the walkers.
Come prepared for this walk by bringing your own water, sunscreen, hat and appropriate footwear.
Grand prizes will be awarded to the top four students who collect the four highest amounts
of money, 1st place winner will have first choice between the four possible awards: Bike or
longboard, camping tent, hiking backpack (stuffed with goodies). 2nd, 3rd and 4th place will
choose from the available awards.
?? Participants raising $75 or more will receive a family pass to visit the Living Desert State
Park, Guadalupe Mountains National Park or Carlsbad Caverns National Park selfguided
walks, a t-shirt, a sticker, and a water bottle.
?? Participants raising $50 - $74.99 will receive a t-shirt, a sticker, and a water bottle.
?? Participants raising $25.00-$49.99 will receive a sticker, and a water bottle.
?? Participants raising $10 - $24.99 will receive a sticker.
?? Door Prizes from participating merchants throughout Carlsbad and Artesia!

Adult marchers (children marchers under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an
adult) will be allowed free entry to the Living Desert on the day of the march.
To encourage student/classroom participation in fundraising, MFP will reimburse the cost of
transportation to a local park for each classroom/group that raises the amount listed below. To
earn a trip to the following areas raise the amounts as follows:
Living Desert State Park $100
Brantley Lake State Park $125
Carlsbad Caverns National Park $200
Guadalupe Mountains National Park $300
Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area $300
