Reminder to Purchase A New Fuelwood Permit for 2020
Alamogordo, NM- 12/18/2019 – The Lincoln National Forest wishes to remind all fuelwood cutters that tags and permits purchased during the 2019 calendar year expire on December 31, 2019.
Personal use firewood permits for 2020 will be available for purchase on January 2, 2020 and cost $20.00 for four cords of wood. New firewood cutting areas and maps were recently added to the Lincoln National Forest website at www.fs.usda.gov/main/lincoln/passes-permits/forestproducts.
Fuelwood permits are one of the most frequently issued permits on the forest. The fuelwood cutting season is year-round. Several types of permits are available, including permits to collect dead and down wood or green-standing trees.
Please note fuelwood cutting areas change often due to the availability of wood, weather, and other reasons, so always check before you go to ensure the best use of your time. Call your local ranger district for the most current information.
