Volunteers needed for National Public Lands Day Event
The Bureau of Land Management Carlsbad Field Office is seeking volunteers for its upcoming National Public Lands Day event Thursday - Saturday Sept. 24, 25 & 26; 7:00 am – 12:00 pm. In recognition of this annual observance, the BLM will conduct a variety of maintenance work at the Six Mile Dam area located along the Pecos River.
In concert with other events around the country, the BLM is encouraging the public to join BLM staff in making a difference for public land resources they use and value. Volunteers will perform work at the Six Mile Dam location constructing a new hiking trail, installing shade shelters, removal of abandoned barb wire fence, trash pick-up, trimming vegetation and installation of new signage.
