    Job Description
    BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
    This position is under the direction of the Executive Administrative Assistant.  Primary purpose of position is to provide ongoing case management services. This position also oversees all the serves as the liaison for all community partners. Must be able to coordinate and/or deliver major programs. Case management involves regular periodic classification reviews, needs assessment, plans, programs referrals & regular scheduled one-on-one contact for purposes of correctional and/or motivational counseling. Process requests for services by conducting intakes, obtaining / completing necessary assessments, completing social histories, and collecting documentation for the determination of program eligibility; Interviews newly admitted inmates or detainees; Conducts facility orientation for newly assigned inmates or detainees explaining rules and regulations of the facility, available services and programs, and the disciplinary and classification process; Resolves day-to-day problems with counseling; Refers inmates or detainees with serious problems to professional counseling staff; Provides assistance to the inmates or detainees in obtaining needed services. Serves as a representative for the inmate/detainee at classification committee meetings; Monitors inmate/detainee custody, housing, job and program assignments to ensure all cases are reviewed in a timely manner; must have the ability to represent management when dealing with inmates; must have a solid knowledge of proper correctional philosophy and policy to assist other staff in all aspects of inmate case management; provides transitional information; assists w/housing & recommendations for the classification committee upon inmate review; assists onsite. Effectively communicate w/other staff, inmates, & the general population; work under stressful conditions caused by direct contact w/incarcerated offenders who can become physically violent & verbally abusive; capable of defending oneself against attack; perform crisis interventions to include suicide prevention; effectively train/observe/evaluate & account for supplies & equipment; prepare written reports which accurately reflect data reviewed by various sources; review/analyze/evaluate various documents & behavioral data gathered from interviews, written documentation & personal observation. Oversee the Grievance policy. Set up and maintain client files. Complete all required documentation in individual case files in a timely manner; Considerable knowledge of policies and procedures of Detention Facility / Jail Guidelines; General knowledge of correctional programs. General knowledge of services available to individuals from the community and other public and private programs, including but not limited to contact with the Courts, Probation and Parole and other law enforcement General knowledge of the techniques of supportive counseling and interviewing. Ability to gather and evaluate information concerning an individual’s past experience, training attitude, social environment, and mental capabilities; Ability to develop, implement, coordinate, and supervise a program within the framework of policies; Ability to make clear and concise reports both written and orally. Account for supplies and equipment. The employee has daily contact with the inmate population.  At times, these situations may be in conflict, requiring the employee to use considerable tact and judgment.  Most other situations in dealing with other employees and the public will require normal tact and judgment.  May be required to Supervise and monitor behavior of residents, coordinate and cooperate with law enforcement agencies and judiciary agencies as necessary; Plan and perform a wide range of detention duties to insure the proper booking, incarceration and safety of persons committed to the Detention Center.  Employee may be required to transport prisoners to court and other appearances. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Case Management officers may be assigned to duty stations in the Adult Male Unit, and Adult Female Units. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings in and out of town, and perform other duties assigned.
