Alamogordo, NM—6/11/2019—The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) in coordination with the Lincoln National Forest will temporarily close US Highway 82 on Tuesday, June 18 and again on July 9, 2019 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm to remove debris from a recent crash that occurred near the tunnel.

The highway will be closed from Florida Ave. to High Rolls, NM.

Work to remove the debris includes mobilization of heavy equipment and traffic control.

Motorists are asked to seek an alternate route while work is taking place. Possible alternate routes include Fresnal Creek Road for smaller private vehicles or Highway 244 for all commercial motor vehicles, trucks with trailers, RVs and motorhomes.
