Name: Carlsbad Museum and Art Center
    Date: July 9, 2016 - September 23, 2016
    Event Description:
Carlsbad Museum and Arts Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico will host the Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks Centennial exhibit “A Century of Inspiration” beginning Friday, July 8 through September 23, 2016. Museum hours are Monday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m.
“This National Park Service Centennial exhibit celebrates the inspiration that Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks have provided visitors for nearly a century. National Parks provide awe-inspiring scenic vistas, enchanted underground areas, and access to some of the most beautiful wild places in the nation. They challenge us all to imagine a future where these places will be forever protected and to learn how we, as local communities and as a nation, share a role in that protection. Through these inspirational places we educate and engage future generations who will come to understand the need to conserve and protect wild places, both above and below,” said Guadalupe Mountains Superintendent Eric Brunnemann.

“We are happy to be able to share 93 years of Carlsbad Caverns National Park history with the community and visitors through this historic exhibit at the Carlsbad Museum. A big thank you goes out to the museum for hosting such a special event and honoring the National Park Service in its 100th year,” said Doug Neighbor, Superintendent of Carlsbad Caverns.
“A Century of Inspiration” showcases works of art, photography and pop culture that both Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks have inspired. The exhibit has artifacts, historical items and documents from both collections that represent history, culture and inspiration. The exhibit also includes recent works of art created by Artists in Residence, reflecting the continuing tradition of parks and artists working together.
