at Guadalupe Peak backcountry sites, all Guadalupe Peak sites will be closed to backcountry
This action follows the park-wide fire restrictions enacted on November 18, 2020 to reduce
fire risks within the park. This administrative action is issued by superintendent authority and
in accordance with 36 CFR 1.5. The park issues this administrative order for the purposes of
limiting damage to and maintaining critical park resources during a period of extreme fire
danger. The effectiveness of this order will be assessed on an ongoing basis and may be modified
when conditions warrant.
Please visit the park website at www.nps.gov/gumo for more information on the status of this temporary closure and on the status of additional park operations.
