Living Desert Zoo and Gardens State Park is presenting the 13th annual Desert Starlight event on Saturday, October 22. The event begins at 4:00 p.m. with solar viewing, looking safely at the sun through a telescope with special filters in front of the Visitor Center.
At 6:00 p.m., a PowerPoint program about the possibility of finding life elsewhere in the universe will be shown in the Visitor Center Conference Room. Large telescopes will be set up until 10:30 p.m. to look at wonders of the night sky, including the planets Saturn and Mars, star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae. Learn about the fall constellations with a laser light tour of the night sky at 8:00 p.m.
There are no fees for any of these special programs. Parking will be available on the left side of the parking lot as you enter the gate.  Only red-lens flashlights are acceptable when you approach the scopes.
